Huangling Flower Festival: A Spring Celebration of Nature and Tradition

Every year on March 8th, the ancient village of Huangling bursts into bloom with its spectacular Flower Festival—a grand celebration of springtime beauty, traditional culture, and therhythms of rural life. Since its debut in 2018, the festival has become one of China’s most anticipated spring events, drawing tens of thousands of visitors and widespread media attention.

The 2025 edition, themed “Ancient Village on the Cliff—Terraced Fields in Bloom,”  attracted both domestic and international tourists, all eager to witness the breathtaking scenery and vibrant cultural performances. A Blossoming Cultural Experience

At the heart of the celebration is the Flower Field Bazaar, where stalls brim with artisan craftslocal delicacies, and interactive workshops, including hands-on sessions in lacquer fan-making, a treasured piece of Huangling’s intangible cultural heritage.

Scenic photo spots—over a dozen of them—are thoughtfully arranged along the flower trails, offering postcard-perfect views amidst fields of gold. From above, the sight is even more stunning: thousands of acres of terraced rapeseed fields encircle the village in radiant yellow, a breathtaking panorama that perfectly frames the historic stone houses and tile roofs.

In addition to the rapeseed blooms, magnoliaspeach blossoms, and pear flowers also paint the landscape in pastel hues. The second bloom of rapeseed flowers in the Gaolǐng terraced fields is expected to last untilmid-April, giving visitors plenty of time to soak in the view.
