Qingming Festival: A Time of Remembrance and Spring Beauty in Huangling

Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, takes place each year between April 4th and 6th. As both a traditional Chinese festival and a solar term marking seasonal change, Qingming is a time for honoring ancestors and embracing the renewal of spring.

In Huangling, Qingming coincides with the most breathtaking season of the year. The village is surrounded by terraced fields that burst into bloom with golden rapeseed flowers, creating a stunning, layered landscape. Walking through this vibrant sea of yellow is like stepping into a living oil painting, full of warmth and vitality.

Beyond the rapeseed fields, visitors can enjoy the hundred-meter-long cherry blossom corridor, stroll through acolorful azalea garden, and admire the delicate blossoms of pear, plum, and apricot trees, all set against the timeless backdrop of Huangling’s ancient village architecture.

Qingming is also a time to taste and make traditional seasonal delicacies. Visitors are invited to try their hand at crafting Qingming Fruit, a local specialty. With guidance from Huangling villagers, guests can use mugwort juice to knead green dough, then fill it with a savory mixture of wild onions, radish, tofu, and cured meat. Shaped into charming forms, these festive snacks are as fun to make as they are to eat.

Come experience Qingming in Huangling—a celebration of heritage, spring time beauty, and hands-on tradition, all in one unforgettable visit.
